Young children’s imaginations are stimulated and structure is given to creative play through poetry, stories and simple props, while developing listening skills and building self-confidence. Enrol children more than once as each drama class is different and skills are strengthened. Child must be 4 years old by first class.

Bard on the Beach:Junior Shakespeareans | 8-13 years
Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival brings its immensely popular Young Shakespeareans workshops to Burnaby. Led by professional theatre artists from the company, this course offers creative journeys through Shakespeare’s language and stories while exploring acting, voice and movement for the stage. This junior workshop focuses on A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Drama Two: Focus on Performance | 10-13 years
Designed for students who have completed Drama Two or two sessions of Drama One, the class further enhances drama skills through character development, character journey and storytelling. Students create a live performance that will have a public showing at the Shadbolt Centre’s

Speech & Drama | 8-18 years
Develop clear articulation and expressive use of voices for performance and presentation. Confidence in public speaking is developed in a fun and challenging way. Students have the opportunity to take part in recitals, exams and festivals. Classes are either one-hour group lessons (maximum five students) or half-hour private lessons. Exploring Shakespeare- Juniors | 9-12 years
A fun introduction to the plays of one of the world’s most renowned playwrights. Students work on monologues and scenes from the Bard’s greatest works, first through modern day English and then through the original Victorian English. This class will include acting coaching, vocal projection and scene interpretation. Students will have an opportunity to showcase their work at the Shadbolt Centre’s Studio Theatre.

Lights Rolling Action | 10-12 years
