Based on the life of Séraphine Louis aka Séraphine de Senlis. The story follows Seraphine, a humble servant who blossoms into a gifted French naïve painter when discovered and encouraged by a highly-regarded art critic and collector William Uhde. Although she was a contemporary of other naive painters including Henri Rousseau, her life turned turned tragic as her talent fell captive to an onset of insanity and obscurity during the Great Depression and World War II.
"I think one of the things that I like most about dance is that it’s another language and I like that its not the language we use everyday."
- Heather Kirkland, Shadbolt Centre dance instructor
